At Riverfun Houseboats, we reserve your chosen houseboat exclusively for your nominated dates. Once a booking is confirmed, those dates are removed from our availability and cannot be offered to other guests.
Our cancellation policy is designed to provide clear and fair arrangements for both our guests and Riverfun Houseboats.
1. Booking Deposit
A booking deposit is required to secure your reservation.
The booking deposit is non-refundable, except where otherwise stated in this policy or where required by Australian Consumer Law.
A 14-day cooling-off period applies from the date your deposit is received. If you cancel within this period, your deposit will be refunded.
2. Changing Your Booking Date
We understand that plans can change.
One change to your booking date may be made without a change fee, provided:
- the request is made at least 90 days prior to departure; and
- the requested new dates are available.
Any change to the booking after the permitted date change, or any request made less than 90 days prior to departure, will be subject to availability and may be treated as a cancellation and re-booking.
Once a booking date has been changed at the customer’s request, any subsequent cancellation will be subject to the cancellation policy applicable to the amended booking.
3. Cancellation Before Final Payment
If you cancel your booking before the final balance is due:
3.1 More than 90 days prior to departure:
Your booking deposit will be forfeited. No further cancellation fee will apply.
3.2 90 days or less prior to departure
Your booking deposit will be forfeited. If Riverfun Houseboats is able to re-book the same houseboat for the full original hire fee, we will refund the recoverable amount in accordance with the re-booking provisions below.
4. Cancellation After Final Payment
Once the final balance has been paid, the following cancellation provisions apply:
4.1 More than 90 days prior to departure
All monies paid will be refunded, less the booking deposit.
Any booking fee component applicable to an online booking is non-refundable.
4.2 Between 45 and 90 days prior to departure
All monies paid will be forfeited unless the houseboat is successfully re-booked for the full original hire fee.
If the houseboat is successfully re-booked, monies paid will be refunded less a $100 cancellation fee. Any booking fee component applicable to an online booking is non-refundable.
4.3 Less than 45 days prior to departure
All monies paid will be forfeited unless the houseboat is successfully re-booked for the full original hire fee.
If the houseboat is successfully re-booked, monies paid will be refunded less a $150 cancellation fee. Any booking fee component applicable to an online booking is non-refundable.
5. Re-booking of Cancelled Dates
Where a cancellation occurs and a refund is dependent on Riverfun Houseboats successfully re-booking the houseboat, the original booking is not considered eligible for a refund until the houseboat has been re-booked and the replacement booking has been secured.
The replacement booking must be for the full original hire fee.
Riverfun Houseboats will make reasonable efforts to re-sell the cancelled dates; however, we cannot guarantee that a cancelled booking will be re-booked.
If the dates are not successfully re-booked, the applicable cancellation provisions above will remain in place.
6. Special Offers, Promotional Rates & Other Bookings
Where a booking has been made under a special offer, promotional rate, package or other discounted arrangement, any specific cancellation conditions applying to that offer will also apply.
Where there is any inconsistency between a promotional offer and this policy, the specific terms provided with the offer will apply.
7. Exceptional Circumstances & Force Majeure
Force Majeure means an event outside the reasonable control of Riverfun Houseboats that could not reasonably have been foreseen or avoided.
This may include, but is not limited to, adverse weather conditions, fire, flood, extreme river conditions, pandemic, government action, changes in law or other circumstances beyond Riverfun Houseboats’ reasonable control.
Where a Force Majeure event prevents Riverfun Houseboats from providing the booked houseboat holiday, Riverfun Houseboats may cancel or modify the booking and will work with the customer to determine an appropriate outcome having regard to the circumstances and any rights the customer has under Australian Consumer Law.
8. Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is strongly recommended to protect you against unforeseen circumstances, including illness, personal emergencies, travel disruption or other circumstances that may prevent you from travelling.
Riverfun Houseboats’ cancellation policy applies regardless of whether or not a customer has chosen to obtain travel insurance.
9. Important Information
By confirming a booking with Riverfun Houseboats, you acknowledge that you have read and accepted this Cancellation & Booking Change Policy.
Our houseboats have limited availability, particularly during peak periods. Once a booking is confirmed, Riverfun Houseboats may decline other enquiries for those dates.
For this reason, cancellation provisions are an important part of the booking agreement and allow Riverfun Houseboats to reasonably manage the commercial impact of cancelled bookings.
Nothing in this policy is intended to exclude, restrict or modify any rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded under Australian Consumer Law.
